Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, IT and Green Energy sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.02%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.19%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS), which rose 2.28% or 95.90 points to trade at 4,292.85 at the close. Meanwhile, HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) added 1.93% or 30.70 points to end at 1,623.35 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) was up 1.47% or 22.05 points to 1,525.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI), which fell 4.03% or 195.80 points to trade at 4,666.00 at the close. Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) declined 3.17% or 166.50 points to end at 5,079.00 and Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) was down 2.87% or 14.95 points to 506.80.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which rose 2.29% to 4,291.00, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was up 1.97% to settle at 1,624.00 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which gained 1.44% to close at 1,524.30.
The worst performers were UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which was down 2.46% to 10,991.35 in late trade, JSW Steel Ltd (BO:JSTL) which lost 1.85% to settle at 890.90 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was down 1.85% to 146.15 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1564 to 874 and 27 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2291 fell and 1472 advanced, while 106 ended unchanged.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.41% to 15.45.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.14% or 3.60 to $2,511.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.10% or 0.08 to hit $78.27 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.02% or 0.02 to trade at $80.67 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.06% to 83.95, while EUR/INR rose 0.32% to 92.53.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 102.29.
