Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Banking, Oil & Gas and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.00% to hit a new 3-months high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.06%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC), which rose 2.24% or 3.75 points to trade at 171.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) added 1.23% or 24.50 points to end at 2017.75 and State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) was up 0.82% or 2.05 points to 253.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN), which fell 3.49% or 33.40 points to trade at 920.00 at the close. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) declined 2.75% or 16.30 points to end at 577.65 and Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) was down 2.21% or 7.30 points to 323.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which rose 2.51% to 171.75, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which was up 1.24% to settle at 2015.50 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which gained 1.07% to close at 1914.45.
The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 2.17% to 850.10 in late trade, Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which lost 2.05% to settle at 190.90 and Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was down 2.00% to 324.15 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1189 to 428 and 38 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1792 fell and 819 advanced, while 130 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.21% or 7.30 to 323.60. Shares in IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) rose to all time highs; up 1.07% or 20.30 to 1914.45. Shares in Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.00% or 6.60 to 324.15.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.91% to 14.2450.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.11% or 1.40 to $1319.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.13% or 0.09 to hit $70.61 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $77.12 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.25% to 67.574, while EUR/INR rose 0.57% to 80.9128.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 92.22.
