Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Construction, Technology and Basic Resources sectors led shares higher while losses in the Food & Beverages, Software and Retail sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.88%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.29%, and the TecDAX index lost 1.47%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG), which rose 4.02% or 6.10 points to trade at 158.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Covestro AG (DE:1COV) added 3.77% or 2.660 points to end at 73.240 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) was up 2.90% or 1.960 points to 69.560 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG), which fell 0.69% or 0.60 points to trade at 86.70 at the close. Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) declined 0.52% or 0.600 points to end at 115.550 and SAP SE (DE:SAPG) was down 0.49% or 0.500 points to 101.640.
The top performers on the MDAX were Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which rose 6.33% to 11.76, Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which was up 5.50% to settle at 40.110 and Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which gained 4.41% to close at 37.380.
The worst performers were Metro AG (DE:MEOG) which was down 3.71% to 6.284 in late trade, Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which lost 3.05% to settle at 35.56 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 1.95% to 67.360 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 4.17% to 111.250, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was up 1.78% to settle at 29.660 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which gained 1.47% to close at 19.385.
The worst performers were Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which was down 12.79% to 127.500 in late trade, Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which lost 4.55% to settle at 176.200 and Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was down 2.56% to 9.978 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 402 to 297 and 82 ended unchanged.
Shares in Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.05% or 1.12 to 35.56.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.66% to 13.91 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.06% or 0.70 to $1209.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.31% or 0.22 to hit $70.55 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.78% or 0.62 to trade at $78.78 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.62% to 1.1745, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8876.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.45% at 93.70.
