Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Monday, as gains in the Utilities, Food & Beverages and Basic Resources sectors led shares higher while losses in the Technology, Consumer & Cyclical and Financial Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.63%, while the MDAX index fell 0.04%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.21%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which rose 3.16% or 0.237 points to trade at 7.730 at the close. Meanwhile, Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) added 2.55% or 0.475 points to end at 19.135 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was up 2.36% or 2.450 points to 106.400 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN), which fell 0.63% or 0.650 points to trade at 102.350 at the close. Deutsche Boerse NA O.N. (DE:DB1Gn) declined 0.52% or 0.370 points to end at 71.310 and Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) was down 0.46% or 0.350 points to 76.530.
The top performers on the MDAX were Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (DE:ZILGn) which rose 3.47% to 22.505, Salzgitter AG O.N. (DE:SZGG) which was up 2.96% to settle at 24.855 and Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (DE:GWIG) which gained 2.53% to close at 12.560.
The worst performers were Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which was down 2.04% to 90.770 in late trade, Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (DE:DWNG) which lost 1.42% to settle at 27.800 and GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which was down 1.21% to 41.740 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which rose 2.38% to 48.530, Jenoptik AG O.N. (DE:JENG) which was up 2.00% to settle at 14.250 and Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which gained 1.46% to close at 59.670.
The worst performers were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was down 2.58% to 222.750 in late trade, LPKF Laser & Electronics (DE:LPKG) which lost 2.47% to settle at 6.193 and BB Biotech AG (DE:BIONn) which was down 2.13% to 44.720 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 541 to 349 and 28 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.14% to 22.04.
Gold for June delivery was up 1.25% or 15.50 to $1259.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 2.17% or 0.86 to hit $40.58 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 2.36% or 0.99 to trade at $42.93 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.09% to 1.1412, while EUR/GBP fell 0.79% to 0.8014.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.28% at 93.96.
