Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Media and Consumer & Cyclical sectors led shares higher while losses in the Food & Beverages, Industrials and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.38%, while the MDAX index declined 0.04%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.18%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p), which rose 1.50% or 1.42 points to trade at 96.32 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) added 1.33% or 0.200 points to end at 15.252 and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG) was up 1.26% or 0.930 points to 74.740 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG), which fell 0.93% or 1.14 points to trade at 121.26 at the close. Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) declined 0.75% or 0.500 points to end at 66.380 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) was down 0.54% or 0.106 points to 19.650.
The top performers on the MDAX were RTL Group SA (DE:RRTL) which rose 3.08% to 43.560, Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) which was up 3.00% to settle at 13.3800 and United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which gained 2.48% to close at 31.350.
The worst performers were Knorr-Bremse AG (DE:KBX) which was down 3.66% to 85.84 in late trade, Rocket Internet (DE:RKET) which lost 2.19% to settle at 22.32 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) which was down 1.67% to 11.470 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were New Work SE (DE:NWOn) which rose 3.92% to 304.50, Isra Vision O.N. (DE:ISRG) which was up 3.75% to settle at 40.98 and United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which gained 2.48% to close at 31.350.
The worst performers were Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was down 3.67% to 56.400 in late trade, RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which lost 1.65% to settle at 23.880 and Siemens Healthineers AG (DE:SHLG) which was down 1.34% to 43.77 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 421 to 265 and 69 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.29% to 13.54.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.39% or 5.75 to $1461.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.79% or 0.46 to hit $57.95 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.54% or 0.34 to trade at $62.87 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.18% to 1.0998, while EUR/GBP fell 0.41% to 0.8527.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 98.333.
