Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrials, Food & Beverages and Media sectors led shares higher while losses in the Construction, Retail and Chemicals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.23%, while the MDAX index fell 0.40%, and the TecDAX index added 0.02%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Siemens AG Class N (ETR:SIEGn), which rose 6.98% or 8.46 points to trade at 129.58 at the close. Meanwhile, MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:MTXGn) added 4.34% or 7.80 points to end at 187.35 and Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (ETR:SY1G) was up 2.08% or 2.25 points to 110.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Continental AG O.N. (ETR:CONG), which fell 3.33% or 1.92 points to trade at 55.74 at the close. Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) declined 3.00% or 0.96 points to end at 31.01 and Merck KGaA (ETR:MRCG) was down 2.60% or 4.70 points to 176.40.
The top performers on the MDAX were Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (ETR:PSMGn) which rose 5.18% to 8.56, Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was up 3.38% to settle at 29.02 and Befesa SA (ETR:BFSA) which gained 3.37% to close at 39.82.
The worst performers were HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which was down 6.41% to 24.23 in late trade, Kion Group AG (ETR:KGX) which lost 3.16% to settle at 26.97 and LEG Immobilien AG (ETR:LEGn) which was down 2.76% to 63.30 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which rose 4.17% to 15.00, SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was up 3.39% to settle at 57.90 and Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which gained 3.38% to close at 29.02.
The worst performers were Varta AG (ETR:VAR1) which was down 2.75% to 29.00 in late trade, ADTRAN Holdingsa Inc (ETR:QH9) which lost 2.27% to settle at 19.40 and United Internet AG NA (ETR:UTDI) which was down 1.46% to 19.53 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 385 to 289 and 79 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.24% to 22.90.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.74% or 13.10 to $1,762.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 4.29% or 3.67 to hit $81.92 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 2.96% or 2.75 to trade at $90.11 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.39% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.21% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.51% at 106.69.
