Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Insurance and Utilities sectors led shares higher while losses in the Construction, Technology and Software sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.08% to hit a new 52-week high, while the MDAX index fell 0.29%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.82%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG), which rose 4.50% or 0.47 points to trade at 10.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Brenntag AG (ETR:BNRGn) added 1.66% or 1.20 points to end at 73.70 and Hannover Rueck SE (ETR:HNRGn) was up 1.40% or 2.55 points to 184.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn), which fell 2.55% or 0.94 points to trade at 35.77 at the close. Daimler Truck Holding AG (ETR:DTGGe) declined 1.22% or 0.37 points to end at 29.93 and MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:MTXGn) was down 1.11% or 2.70 points to 240.20.
The top performers on the MDAX were Kion Group AG (ETR:KGX) which rose 4.39% to 37.79, Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (ETR:JUNG_p) which was up 3.77% to settle at 31.36 and Encavis AG (ETR:ECVG) which gained 2.81% to close at 15.56.
The worst performers were Sixt SE (ETR:SIXG) which was down 6.05% to 111.80 in late trade, Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) which lost 3.78% to settle at 7.53 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was down 3.56% to 119.35 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which rose 1.63% to 38.08, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (ETR:COP1n) which was up 1.50% to settle at 49.94 and Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG) which gained 0.48% to close at 53.94.
The worst performers were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was down 3.56% to 119.35 in late trade, Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which lost 2.84% to settle at 35.54 and Jenoptik AG (ETR:JENGn) which was down 2.63% to 28.10 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 377 to 289 and 84 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.12% to 16.74.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.63% or 12.75 to $2,006.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.36% or 1.10 to hit $79.80 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.27% or 1.08 to trade at $83.69 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.09% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.26% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 101.60.
