Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Friday, as gains in the Utilities, Telecoms and Software sectors led shares higher while losses in the Technology, Construction and Retail sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.08%, while the MDAX index fell 0.75%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.88%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG), which rose 3.13% or 3.20 points to trade at 105.55 at the close. Meanwhile, RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) added 2.92% or 0.800 points to end at 28.190 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) was up 0.85% or 0.130 points to 15.378 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn), which fell 3.67% or 0.664 points to trade at 17.426 at the close. Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) declined 3.24% or 3.96 points to end at 118.38 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) was down 2.14% or 0.970 points to 44.345.
The top performers on the MDAX were Osram Licht AG (DE:OSRn) which rose 1.92% to 38.17, Deutsche Euroshop AG (DE:DEQGn) which was up 1.67% to settle at 25.500 and Talanx AG NA O.N. (DE:TLXGn) which gained 1.54% to close at 39.580.
The worst performers were K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which was down 4.26% to 13.815 in late trade, Rocket Internet (DE:RKET) which lost 3.68% to settle at 23.04 and Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which was down 3.61% to 24.320 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which rose 7.00% to 11.000, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was up 5.29% to settle at 25.880 and Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which gained 1.55% to close at 47.120.
The worst performers were Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which was down 4.46% to 6.430 in late trade, Jenoptik AG (DE:JENGn) which lost 4.05% to settle at 23.700 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) which was down 3.67% to 17.426 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 336 to 324 and 99 ended unchanged.
Shares in Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.13% or 3.20 to 105.55. Shares in RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 2.92% or 0.800 to 28.190.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.76% to 14.34.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.56% or 8.45 to $1514.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.69% or 0.40 to hit $58.59 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.59% or 0.38 to trade at $64.78 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.24% to 1.1014, while EUR/GBP rose 0.12% to 0.8825.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 98.148.
