Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Technology and Media sectors led shares higher while losses in the Telecoms, Chemicals and Insurance sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 1.71%, while the MDAX index declined 0.99%, and the TecDAX index added 0.95%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which rose 4.93% or 0.900 points to trade at 19.160 at the close. Meanwhile, Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) added 1.73% or 0.730 points to end at 42.970 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) was up 0.48% or 0.060 points to 12.565 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn), which fell 3.84% or 0.790 points to trade at 19.775 at the close. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) declined 3.71% or 4.150 points to end at 107.700 and Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (DE:BMWG) was down 3.35% or 2.700 points to 78.000.
The top performers on the MDAX were Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which rose 3.50% to 45.260, Gerresheimer AG (DE:GXId) which was up 1.90% to settle at 70.140 and Tag Immobilien AG (DE:TEGG) which gained 1.39% to close at 12.055.
The worst performers were Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) which was down 5.03% to 28.800 in late trade, Evonik Industries AG (DE:EVKn) which lost 2.88% to settle at 25.605 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 2.76% to 56.050 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which rose 4.25% to 34.715, LPKF Laser & Electronics (DE:LPKG) which was up 4.24% to settle at 6.927 and Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which gained 3.04% to close at 166.050.
The worst performers were Kontron AG O.N. (DE:KBCG) which was down 3.87% to 3.052 in late trade, QSC AG NA O.N. (DE:QSCG) which lost 2.48% to settle at 1.102 and SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 1.81% to 45.100 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 563 to 273 and 30 ended unchanged.
Shares in QSC AG NA O.N. (DE:QSCG) fell to 5-year lows; down 2.48% or 0.028 to 1.102.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 6.05% to 22.08.
Gold for June delivery was down 1.54% or 19.00 to $1216.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 3.70% or 1.42 to hit $36.92 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 3.89% or 1.57 to trade at $38.76 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.11% to 1.1394, while EUR/GBP rose 1.12% to 0.8014.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.02% at 94.63.
