Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer & Cyclical, Industrials and Transportation & Logistics sectors led shares higher while losses in the Chemicals, Utilities and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.42%, while the MDAX index added 0.04%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.41%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn), which rose 2.33% or 4.80 points to trade at 211.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) added 2.28% or 0.217 points to end at 9.747 and Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) was up 2.08% or 2.81 points to 137.93 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Covestro AG (DE:1COV), which fell 2.26% or 1.060 points to trade at 45.940 at the close. Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) declined 1.54% or 0.580 points to end at 37.185 and Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) was down 1.33% or 0.765 points to 56.670.
The top performers on the MDAX were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which rose 4.15% to 27.110, Airbus Group SE (DE:AIRG) which was up 3.87% to settle at 94.94 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) which gained 3.68% to close at 12.8050.
The worst performers were Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which was down 4.12% to 56.950 in late trade, HelloFresh SE (DE:HFGG) which lost 2.54% to settle at 46.78 and Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which was down 2.41% to 102.30 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siemens Healthineers AG (DE:SHLG) which rose 3.16% to 39.62, Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was up 2.45% to settle at 20.470 and S&T AG (DE:SANT1) which gained 2.02% to close at 20.24.
The worst performers were Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which was down 4.12% to 56.950 in late trade, Jenoptik AG (DE:JENGn) which lost 2.11% to settle at 25.040 and Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 1.81% to 18.440 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 370 to 268 and 36 ended unchanged.
Shares in Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.08% or 2.81 to 137.93.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.77% to 23.28.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.01% or 0.15 to $1830.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $45.30 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.21% or 0.10 to trade at $48.35 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.33% to 1.2154, while EUR/GBP fell 0.51% to 0.9015.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.54% at 90.623.
