Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financial Services, Software and Consumer & Cyclical sectors led shares higher while losses in the Chemicals, Basic Resources and Food & Beverages sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.10%, while the MDAX index added 0.30%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.73%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG), which rose 13.21% or 0.245 points to trade at 2.101 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Wohnen AG (DE:DWNG) added 2.66% or 1.090 points to end at 42.010 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) was up 2.26% or 1.005 points to 45.420 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN), which fell 4.74% or 2.475 points to trade at 49.795 at the close. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) declined 3.21% or 4.57 points to end at 137.60 and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG) was down 2.56% or 1.530 points to 58.235.
The top performers on the MDAX were Osram Licht AG (DE:OSRn) which rose 3.91% to 43.54, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was up 3.83% to settle at 92.250 and Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (DE:AT1) which gained 3.82% to close at 5.170.
The worst performers were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) which was down 3.22% to 6.728 in late trade, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which lost 3.15% to settle at 2.337 and Airbus Group SE (DE:AIRG) which was down 2.41% to 62.29 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which rose 13.21% to 2.101, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was up 3.83% to settle at 92.250 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COP1n) which gained 2.82% to close at 74.650.
The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 3.63% to 9.025 in late trade, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which lost 3.15% to settle at 2.337 and Jenoptik AG (DE:JENGn) which was down 1.15% to 22.260 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 368 to 279 and 100 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.34% to 26.04.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.42% or 8.10 to $1952.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.37% or 0.15 to hit $41.19 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.71% or 0.31 to trade at $43.92 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.49% to 1.1771, while EUR/GBP rose 0.18% to 0.9073.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 93.388.
