Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Retail and Software sectors led shares higher while losses in the Utilities, Technology and Construction sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.09%, while the MDAX index gained 0.07%, and the TecDAX index added 0.23%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG), which rose 2.50% or 1.240 points to trade at 50.860 at the close. Meanwhile, Covestro AG (DE:1COV) added 1.60% or 0.800 points to end at 50.700 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) was up 1.34% or 0.220 points to 16.665 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG), which fell 4.31% or 5.95 points to trade at 132.05 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) declined 1.38% or 0.250 points to end at 17.900 and Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) was down 1.35% or 2.65 points to 193.35.
The top performers on the MDAX were K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which rose 4.63% to 15.720, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was up 3.86% to settle at 20.030 and Osram Licht AG (DE:OSRn) which gained 2.77% to close at 40.38.
The worst performers were Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which was down 4.45% to 7.34 in late trade, Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which lost 3.96% to settle at 37.88 and GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which was down 3.39% to 23.100 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which rose 19.65% to 22.040, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen O.N. (DE:HDDG) which was up 4.34% to settle at 1.9460 and Adler Real Estate AG (DE:ADLG) which gained 3.80% to close at 14.74.
The worst performers were Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was down 2.90% to 47.480 in late trade, Hapag Lloyd AG (DE:HLAG) which lost 2.20% to settle at 29.3400 and DMG Mori AG (DE:GILG) which was down 2.04% to 43.150 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 384 to 316 and 81 ended unchanged.
Shares in Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) fell to all time lows; losing 4.45% or 0.34 to 7.34. Shares in Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.96% or 1.56 to 37.88. Shares in GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) fell to 5-year lows; losing 3.39% or 0.810 to 23.100.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.26% to 19.44.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.88% or 10.70 to $1230.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.47% or 0.24 to hit $51.80 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.25% or 0.15 to trade at $60.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.63% to 1.1359, while EUR/GBP rose 0.02% to 0.8864.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.50% at 96.795.
