Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Monday, as gains in the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Retail and Consumer & Cyclical sectors led shares higher while losses in the Telecom, Basic Resources and Insurance sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.05%, while the MDAX index gained 0.05%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.21%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (XETRA:FREG), which rose 1.06% or 0.455 points to trade at 43.500 at the close. Meanwhile, SAP AG O.N. (XETRA:SAPG) added 0.82% or 0.480 points to end at 58.730 and Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG) was up 0.77% or 1.350 points to 177.000 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN), which fell 0.90% or 0.210 points to trade at 23.165 at the close. Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG) declined 0.72% or 0.280 points to end at 38.750 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG) was down 0.68% or 0.075 points to 11.020.
The top performers on the MDAX were Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (XETRA:GWIG) which rose 4.82% to 34.360, Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ZILGn) which was up 1.29% to settle at 28.600 and Tag Immobilien AG (XETRA:TEGG) which gained 1.21% to close at 9.707.
The worst performers were Aareal Bank AG (XETRA:ARLG) which was down 1.97% to 33.255 in late trade, Gerresheimer AG (XETRA:GXId) which lost 1.57% to settle at 45.180 and Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which was down 1.40% to 23.275 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were BB Biotech AG (XETRA:BIONn) which rose 6.56% to 198.950, Jenoptik AG O.N. (XETRA:JENG) which was up 1.53% to settle at 10.605 and SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which gained 0.97% to close at 15.140.
The worst performers were QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which was down 2.84% to 1.744 in late trade, Software AG O.N. (XETRA:SOWG) which lost 2.15% to settle at 20.025 and Cancom SE O.N. (XETRA:COKG) which was down 1.66% to 34.440 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 381 to 345 and 21 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tag Immobilien AG (XETRA:TEGG) rose to 52 week highs; gaining 1.21% or 0.116 to 9.707.
Shares in BB Biotech AG (XETRA:BIONn) rose to 52 week highs; rising 6.56% or 12.250 to 198.950.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 8.16% to 19.48.
Gold for February delivery was down 1.23% or 14.70 to $1180.60 a troy ounce.
Elsewhere in commodities trading, crude oil for delivery in February fell 1.17% or 0.64 to hit $54.09 a barrel, while the February brent oil contract fell 1.44% or 0.85 to trade at $58.59 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.03% to 1.2177, while EUR/GBP rose 0.20% to 0.7846.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 90.37.
