Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Food & Beverage, Construction and Basic Resources sectors led shares higher while losses in the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Consumer & Cyclical and Chemicals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.57%, while the MDAX index added 0.86%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.17%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG), which rose 1.84% or 0.250 points to trade at 13.855 at the close. Meanwhile, Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (XETRA:HEIG) added 1.74% or 1.010 points to end at 59.060 and Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG) was up 1.64% or 0.630 points to 39.030 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Merck KGAA O.N. (XETRA:MRCG), which fell 1.36% or 1.080 points to trade at 78.560 at the close. Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (XETRA:FREG) declined 1.06% or 0.460 points to end at 43.045 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (XETRA:FMEG) was down 0.70% or 0.430 points to 61.180.
The top performers on the MDAX were Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (XETRA:WING) which rose 3.30% to 39.615, Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (XETRA:GWIG) which was up 3.20% to settle at 32.780 and Bilfinger SE O.N. (XETRA:GBFG) which gained 3.07% to close at 46.655.
The worst performers were Gerresheimer AG (XETRA:GXId) which was down 0.67% to 45.900 in late trade, Airbus Group (XETRA:AIRG) which lost 0.35% to settle at 41.700 and Norma Group AG NA O.N. (XETRA:NOEJ) which was down 0.20% to 39.350 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which rose 4.87% to 5.101, Software AG O.N. (XETRA:SOWG) which was up 2.12% to settle at 20.465 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (XETRA:O2Dn) which gained 1.58% to close at 4.510.
The worst performers were BB Biotech AG (XETRA:BIONn) which was down 5.66% to 186.700 in late trade, Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which lost 2.44% to settle at 46.135 and Jenoptik AG O.N. (XETRA:JENG) which was down 1.14% to 10.445 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 481 to 231 and 28 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.22% to 18.01.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.13% or 1.50 to $1178.30 a troy ounce.
Elsewhere in commodities trading, crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.70% or 0.94 to hit $56.20 a barrel, while the February brent oil contract rose 1.11% or 0.67 to trade at $60.77 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.37% to 1.2184, while EUR/GBP rose 0.06% to 0.7849.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.34% at 90.24.
