Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Insurance and Technology sectors led shares higher while losses in the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Software and Financial Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.20%, while the MDAX index added 0.11%, and the TecDAX index added 0.50%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Adidas AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ADSGN), which rose 0.96% or 0.530 points to trade at 55.670 at the close. Meanwhile, Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (XETRA:MUVGn) added 0.94% or 1.500 points to end at 160.900 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn) was up 0.72% or 0.060 points to 8.383 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG), which fell 2.76% or 0.390 points to trade at 13.730 at the close. Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG) declined 2.75% or 4.650 points to end at 164.600 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG) was down 2.16% or 0.240 points to 10.850.
The top performers on the MDAX were Aurubis AG (XETRA:NAFG) which rose 3.17% to 45.680, DMG Mori Seiki AG (XETRA:GILG) which was up 2.97% to settle at 22.000 and Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which gained 2.43% to close at 22.300.
The worst performers were Wacker Chemie O.N. (XETRA:WCHG) which was down 2.34% to 91.350 in late trade, Deutsche Annington Immobilien SE (XETRA:ANNGn) which lost 1.73% to settle at 25.91 and Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which was down 1.56% to 11.670 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were BB Biotech AG (XETRA:BIONn) which rose 3.00% to 187.100, Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which was up 2.96% to settle at 82.440 and Evotec AG O.N. (XETRA:EVTG) which gained 2.91% to close at 3.573.
The worst performers were Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which was down 1.73% to 4.760 in late trade, Wirecard AG (XETRA:WDIG) which lost 1.07% to settle at 34.100 and United Internet AG NA (XETRA:UTDI) which was down 0.79% to 35.800 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 400 to 319 and 18 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.38% to 21.14.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.05% or 0.60 to $1194.90 a troy ounce.
Elsewhere in commodities trading, crude oil for delivery in February rose 3.32% or 1.87 to hit $58.13 a barrel, while the February brent oil contract rose 3.84% or 2.31 to trade at $62.31 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.81% to 1.2410, while EUR/GBP fell 0.20% to 0.7928.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.75% at 88.72.
