Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrials, Construction and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 4.47%, while the MDAX index declined 3.33%, and the TecDAX index fell 2.38%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn), which fell 1.01% or 0.54 points to trade at 53.16 at the close. Meanwhile, Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) fell 1.06% or 1.060 points to end at 98.700 and Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) was down 1.39% or 2.120 points to 150.780 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG), which fell 9.05% or 1.000 points to trade at 10.055 at the close. Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) declined 8.67% or 3.375 points to end at 35.555 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was down 7.53% or 10.80 points to 132.55.
The top performers on the MDAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which rose 2.82% to 291.400, Symrise AG Inh. O.N. (DE:SY1G) which was up 0.76% to settle at 97.090 and LEG Immobilien AG (DE:LEGn) which gained 0.63% to close at 117.680.
The worst performers were Airbus Group SE (DE:AIRG) which was down 10.41% to 67.18 in late trade, Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which lost 9.78% to settle at 7.01 and Brenntag AG (DE:BNRGn) which was down 9.69% to 44.920 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which rose 2.82% to 291.400, RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was up 1.88% to settle at 24.920 and Software AG (DE:SOWGn) which lost 0.58% to close at 34.560.
The worst performers were Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which was down 6.47% to 89.600 in late trade, Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) which lost 5.80% to settle at 19.730 and Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which was down 5.49% to 15.268 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 602 to 94 and 42 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 18.94% to 38.74.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.03% or 17.80 to $1738.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 8.01% or 3.17 to hit $36.43 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 7.24% or 3.02 to trade at $38.71 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.27% to 1.1338, while EUR/GBP rose 0.86% to 0.8994.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.57% at 96.493.
