Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Consumer & Cyclical and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 3.87% to hit a new 3-months low, while the MDAX index lost 2.58%, and the TecDAX index declined 2.83%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER), which rose 2.26% or 2.16 points to trade at 97.88 at the close. Meanwhile, Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) fell 0.15% or 0.20 points to end at 134.53 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) was down 0.88% or 0.070 points to 7.840 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn), which fell 7.15% or 1.835 points to trade at 23.815 at the close. Covestro AG (DE:1COV) declined 6.52% or 2.790 points to end at 39.970 and BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN) was down 6.49% or 3.270 points to 47.120.
The top performers on the MDAX were Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which rose 3.19% to 2.263, Osram Licht AG (DE:OSRn) which was down 0.20% to settle at 50.80 and Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which lost 0.16% to close at 62.200.
The worst performers were Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was down 13.70% to 33.880 in late trade, CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which lost 8.46% to settle at 37.860 and Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which was down 8.16% to 32.195 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which rose 3.19% to 2.263, Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was down 0.14% to settle at 70.900 and Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which lost 0.16% to close at 18.170.
The worst performers were Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was down 13.70% to 33.880 in late trade, Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) which lost 7.15% to settle at 23.815 and LPKF Laser & Electronics (DE:LPKG) which was down 6.20% to 15.740 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 646 to 50 and 10 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 15.00% to 39.79 a new 3-months high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.51% or 28.95 to $1882.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 5.38% or 2.13 to hit $37.44 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 4.69% or 1.95 to trade at $39.66 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.34% to 1.1755, while EUR/GBP rose 0.06% to 0.9046.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.50% at 93.392.
