Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Software, Construction and Food & Beverages sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 3.43%, while the MDAX index declined 2.46%, and the TecDAX index lost 2.42%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn), which fell 0.98% or 0.315 points to trade at 31.670 at the close. Meanwhile, E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) fell 1.61% or 0.162 points to end at 9.928 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) was down 1.97% or 0.410 points to 20.440 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG), which fell 28.30% or 4.856 points to trade at 12.302 at the close. Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) declined 6.60% or 2.455 points to end at 34.755 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) was down 5.05% or 0.432 points to 8.122.
The top performers on the MDAX were Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which rose 6.10% to 40.760, Rocket Internet (DE:RKET) which was up 2.44% to settle at 19.77 and Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which gained 2.07% to close at 93.800.
The worst performers were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) which was down 7.97% to 6.100 in late trade, Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) which lost 6.01% to settle at 3.782 and K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which was down 5.66% to 5.764 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which rose 6.10% to 40.760, RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was up 2.81% to settle at 26.340 and Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which gained 2.07% to close at 93.800.
The worst performers were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which was down 28.30% to 12.302 in late trade, Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which lost 5.02% to settle at 10.203 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was down 4.17% to 86.200 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 556 to 120 and 62 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 14.66% to 38.96.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.27% or 4.80 to $1777.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 5.03% or 2.03 to hit $38.34 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 4.88% or 2.08 to trade at $40.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.26% to 1.1277, while EUR/GBP rose 0.39% to 0.9064.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.39% at 96.987.
