Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Insurance, Transportation & Logistics and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 2.66%, while the MDAX index lost 1.92%, and the TecDAX index declined 1.99%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER), which fell 0.46% or 0.55 points to trade at 118.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) fell 0.88% or 2.56 points to end at 287.55 and MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) was down 1.02% or 2.10 points to 203.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG), which fell 5.33% or 2.065 points to trade at 36.690 at the close. Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) declined 4.26% or 10.45 points to end at 235.10 and Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) was down 4.16% or 2.04 points to 47.01.
The top performers on the MDAX were Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which rose 1.98% to 113.400, Knorr-Bremse AG (DE:KBX) which was up 0.84% to settle at 108.62 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which gained 0.46% to close at 347.600.
The worst performers were Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which was down 5.35% to 45.400 in late trade, Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which lost 5.27% to settle at 19.420 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 4.96% to 26.430 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which rose 1.98% to 113.400, Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was up 0.81% to settle at 62.300 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which gained 0.46% to close at 347.600.
The worst performers were Jenoptik AG (DE:JENGn) which was down 4.00% to 23.980 in late trade, Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) which lost 3.88% to settle at 29.750 and United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which was down 3.78% to 34.370 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 599 to 89 and 24 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 20.57% to 29.02 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.36% or 6.85 to $1882.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 3.70% or 1.82 to hit $47.42 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 3.69% or 1.93 to trade at $50.33 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.31% to 1.2217, while EUR/GBP rose 1.12% to 0.9170.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.34% at 90.263.
