Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Retail, Industrials and Transportation & Logistics sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 1.72%, while the MDAX index lost 1.91%, and the TecDAX index lost 1.13%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG), which rose 0.21% or 0.190 points to trade at 92.430 at the close. Meanwhile, Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) added 0.14% or 0.21 points to end at 151.41 and Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p) was up 0.07% or 0.06 points to 89.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which fell 3.47% or 0.347 points to trade at 9.649 at the close. Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) declined 3.33% or 9.65 points to end at 280.55 and Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) was down 3.20% or 1.850 points to 56.025.
The top performers on the MDAX were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which rose 1.82% to 117.600, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was up 0.21% to settle at 373.000 and RTL Group SA (DE:RRTL) which gained 0.25% to close at 40.860.
The worst performers were Siemens Energy AG (DE:ENR1n) which was down 8.02% to 30.06 in late trade, Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which lost 5.85% to settle at 114.200 and HelloFresh SE (DE:HFGG) which was down 4.51% to 61.45 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which rose 1.82% to 117.600, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was up 0.21% to settle at 373.000 and Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which gained 0.17% to close at 17.405.
The worst performers were Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which was down 5.85% to 114.200 in late trade, Jenoptik AG (DE:JENGn) which lost 5.67% to settle at 23.640 and LPKF Laser & Electronics (DE:LPKG) which was down 4.17% to 26.450 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 574 to 121 and 19 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 14.72% to 24.63.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 1.49% or 27.50 to $1823.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 2.97% or 1.59 to hit $51.98 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 3.00% or 1.69 to trade at $54.73 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.52% to 1.2092, while EUR/GBP rose 0.29% to 0.8905.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.53% at 90.692.
