Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Resources, Chemicals and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 1.58%, while the MDAX index fell 0.78%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.52%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn), which rose 5.23% or 2.34 points to trade at 47.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) added 4.01% or 5.075 points to end at 131.625 and RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) was up 1.95% or 0.420 points to 21.990 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p), which fell 5.01% or 4.59 points to trade at 87.07 at the close. Covestro AG (DE:1COV) declined 4.19% or 1.980 points to end at 45.310 and BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN) was down 3.70% or 2.550 points to 66.450.
The top performers on the MDAX were Deutsche Wohnen AG (DE:DWNG) which rose 3.13% to 41.480, Tag Immobilien AG (DE:TEGG) which was up 2.61% to settle at 20.480 and Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which gained 2.51% to close at 122.40.
The worst performers were Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which was down 4.35% to 74.36 in late trade, Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which lost 4.26% to settle at 36.860 and GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which was down 4.14% to 23.400 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which rose 4.01% to 131.625, Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was up 2.17% to settle at 32.920 and Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which gained 2.16% to close at 8.985.
The worst performers were Qiagen NV (DE:QIA) which was down 3.95% to 33.110 in late trade, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which lost 3.77% to settle at 83.800 and Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was down 3.74% to 144.30 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 458 to 233 and 86 ended unchanged.
Shares in Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) rose to all time highs; gaining 5.23% or 2.34 to 47.10.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 11.47% to 18.08 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.18% or 2.25 to $1286.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.35% or 0.84 to hit $61.41 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.47% or 1.05 to trade at $70.19 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.18% to 1.1177, while EUR/GBP rose 0.12% to 0.8558.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 97.442.
