Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrials, Chemicals and Transportation & Logistics sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 1.50%, while the MDAX index declined 0.61%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.49%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG), which rose 2.31% or 1.540 points to trade at 68.200 at the close. Meanwhile, Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) added 1.09% or 0.240 points to end at 22.200 and Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) was up 0.61% or 0.54 points to 89.58 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Siemens AG Class N (DE:SIEGn), which fell 4.69% or 5.62 points to trade at 114.20 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) declined 3.61% or 0.331 points to end at 8.834 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) was down 3.28% or 0.364 points to 10.728.
The top performers on the MDAX were Metro Wholesale & Food Specialist AG (DE:B4B) which rose 9.72% to 11.8000, Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which was up 2.63% to settle at 54.650 and Osram Licht AG (DE:OSRn) which gained 1.73% to close at 39.98.
The worst performers were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 7.81% to 71.300 in late trade, Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) which lost 3.81% to settle at 67.660 and Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which was down 3.39% to 99.360 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SLM Solutions Group AG (DE:AM3D) which rose 7.92% to 25.90, Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was up 3.58% to settle at 68.000 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which gained 2.30% to close at 19.110.
The worst performers were Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was down 4.83% to 130.00 in late trade, Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which lost 4.83% to settle at 108.400 and Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 3.80% to 9.368 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 456 to 245 and 80 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 11.76% to 17.43.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.37% or 4.60 to $1223.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.97% or 1.33 to hit $68.99 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.37% or 0.99 to trade at $73.38 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.38% to 1.1616, while EUR/GBP rose 0.28% to 0.8908.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.35% at 94.79.
