Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Construction, Retail and Insurance sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 1.43%, while the MDAX index declined 1.24%, and the TecDAX index lost 1.07%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (ETR:RWEG), which rose 0.03% or 0.01 points to trade at 31.17 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Boerse AG (ETR:DB1Gn) added 0.01% or 0.03 points to end at 186.02 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (ETR:FREG) was down 0.20% or 0.05 points to 25.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG), which fell 2.76% or 0.71 points to trade at 24.99 at the close. Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN) declined 2.59% or 0.74 points to end at 27.82 and Siemens AG Class N (ETR:SIEGn) was down 2.73% or 4.81 points to 171.33.
The top performers on the MDAX were K&S AG (ETR:SDFGn) which rose 0.62% to 15.01, Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which was up 0.57% to settle at 49.40 and Befesa SA (ETR:BFSA) which gained 0.28% to close at 36.36.
The worst performers were Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which was down 3.16% to 31.88 in late trade, Jenoptik AG (ETR:JENGn) which lost 2.98% to settle at 28.04 and HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which was down 2.91% to 6.33 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Bechtle AG (ETR:BC8G) which rose 0.57% to 49.40, Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which was down 0.04% to settle at 67.18 and 11 AG (ETR:1U1) which lost 0.25% to close at 15.86.
The worst performers were Kontron AG (ETR:KTN) which was down 3.69% to 19.82 in late trade, Jenoptik AG (ETR:JENGn) which lost 2.98% to settle at 28.04 and Energiekontor AG (ETR:EKTG) which was down 2.81% to 65.60 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 500 to 62 and 23 ended unchanged.
Shares in HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) fell to 5-year lows; falling 2.91% or 0.19 to 6.33.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 11.19% to 14.61 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.05% or 1.15 to $2,307.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.12% or 0.10 to hit $86.49 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.12% or 0.11 to trade at $90.76 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.02% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.14% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 104.05.
