Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Basic Resources sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 1.41%, while the MDAX index declined 0.29%, and the TecDAX index declined 1.16%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG), which rose 2.70% or 0.214 points to trade at 8.132 at the close. Meanwhile, E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) added 0.52% or 0.050 points to end at 9.610 and Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p) was down 0.06% or 0.05 points to 77.16 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG), which fell 4.36% or 1.955 points to trade at 42.920 at the close. SAP SE (DE:SAPG) declined 3.46% or 3.820 points to end at 106.690 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) was down 2.89% or 0.563 points to 18.890.

The top performers on the MDAX were Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER) which rose 3.49% to 89.00, Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which was up 2.15% to settle at 92.450 and CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which gained 1.67% to close at 35.300.

The worst performers were Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was down 5.54% to 2.644 in late trade, Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which lost 5.02% to settle at 20.800 and Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which was down 5.00% to 5.42 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which rose 2.15% to 92.450, Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was up 0.62% to settle at 162.60 and Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which gained 0.48% to close at 22.980.

The worst performers were Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was down 5.54% to 2.644 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which lost 4.25% to settle at 87.900 and Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was down 4.18% to 9.454 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 450 to 203 and 85 ended unchanged.

Shares in Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER) rose to all time highs; up 3.49% or 3.00 to 89.00.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 10.43% to 35.15.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.73% or 30.25 to $1721.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.60% or 0.20 to hit $33.69 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.56% or 0.20 to trade at $35.95 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.11% to 1.0964, while EUR/GBP fell 0.09% to 0.8959.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 99.358.
