Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Insurance sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 1.28%, while the MDAX index fell 0.73%, and the TecDAX index declined 1.31%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 1.51% or 0.106 points to trade at 7.108 at the close. Meanwhile, RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) added 0.87% or 0.210 points to end at 24.360 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) was up 0.38% or 0.17 points to 44.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Covestro AG (DE:1COV), which fell 3.75% or 1.680 points to trade at 43.140 at the close. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) declined 2.87% or 4.56 points to end at 154.06 and Linde PLC (DE:LINI) was down 2.36% or 4.300 points to 177.900.
The top performers on the MDAX were Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which rose 3.68% to 25.080, Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which was up 2.05% to settle at 104.30 and CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which gained 1.90% to close at 44.040.
The worst performers were Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which was down 5.64% to 43.50 in late trade, Qiagen NV (DE:QIA) which lost 5.12% to settle at 33.9400 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 3.39% to 71.760 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which rose 14.06% to 9.7000, SLM Solutions Group AG (DE:AM3D) which was up 13.89% to settle at 13.28 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which gained 2.09% to close at 17.600.
The worst performers were Qiagen NV (DE:QIA) which was down 5.05% to 33.965 in late trade, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which lost 3.65% to settle at 23.220 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 3.39% to 71.760 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 424 to 258 and 77 ended unchanged.
Shares in RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 0.87% or 0.210 to 24.360.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.30% to 14.66.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.76% or 10.80 to $1412.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.45% or 0.25 to hit $56.13 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.51% or 0.32 to trade at $63.50 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.07% to 1.1131, while EUR/GBP rose 0.27% to 0.8946.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 97.623.
