Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Retail, Software and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 1.18%, while the MDAX index declined 1.09%, and the TecDAX index fell 1.25%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were E.ON SE (DE:EONGn), which rose 0.90% or 0.078 points to trade at 8.764 at the close. Meanwhile, Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) added 0.33% or 0.215 points to end at 65.140 and Linde PLC (DE:LINI) was up 0.19% or 0.400 points to 207.700 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG), which fell 5.77% or 5.270 points to trade at 86.000 at the close. SAP SE (DE:SAPG) declined 3.72% or 4.030 points to end at 104.320 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) was down 3.07% or 1.120 points to 35.350.
The top performers on the MDAX were TeamViewer AG (DE:TMV) which rose 4.04% to 48.38, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was up 2.41% to settle at 2.382 and CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which gained 1.98% to close at 56.600.
The worst performers were Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which was down 6.43% to 155.700 in late trade, Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which lost 5.77% to settle at 96.44 and HelloFresh SE (DE:HFGG) which was down 5.56% to 71.35 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were TeamViewer AG (DE:TMV) which rose 4.04% to 48.38, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was up 2.41% to settle at 2.382 and Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which gained 0.56% to close at 18.950.
The worst performers were Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which was down 6.43% to 155.700 in late trade, Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which lost 3.81% to settle at 16.570 and SAP SE (DE:SAPG) which was down 3.72% to 104.320 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 458 to 237 and 20 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 4.59% to 23.48.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.69% or 30.35 to $1768.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.25% or 0.15 to hit $60.20 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.38% or 0.24 to trade at $63.59 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.64% to 1.2026, while EUR/GBP fell 0.14% to 0.8693.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.60% at 91.047.
