Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Construction, Utilities and Chemicals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.79%, while the MDAX index fell 0.88%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.69%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG), which rose 1.26% or 6.40 points to trade at 515.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) added 0.62% or 0.15 points to end at 24.51 and Daimler Truck Holding AG (ETR:DTGGe) was up 0.29% or 0.11 points to 38.14 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n), which fell 4.94% or 1.37 points to trade at 26.38 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (ETR:RWEG) declined 3.42% or 1.16 points to end at 32.73 and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (ETR:BMWG) was down 2.56% or 2.36 points to 89.82.
The top performers on the MDAX were Redcare Pharmacy NV (ETR:RDC) which rose 1.96% to 140.80, Krones AG O.N. (ETR:KRNG) which was up 1.90% to settle at 128.80 and Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which gained 1.30% to close at 35.94.
The worst performers were Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which was down 4.70% to 2.13 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which lost 4.58% to settle at 12.93 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (ETR:BOSSn) which was down 2.91% to 40.37 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which rose 1.30% to 35.94, Suess Microtec NA O.N. (ETR:SMHNn) which was up 1.26% to settle at 64.50 and Atoss Software AG (ETR:AOFG) which gained 1.19% to close at 119.00.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was down 5.03% to 27.18 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which lost 4.58% to settle at 12.93 and Elmos Semiconductor AG (ETR:ELGG) which was down 2.58% to 79.30 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 435 to 201 and 26 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.92% to 12.46 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.75% or 18.15 to $2,438.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.21% or 0.17 to hit $80.85 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.14% or 0.12 to trade at $84.91 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.01% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.15% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 103.85.
