Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Retail, Technology and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.71%, while the MDAX index fell 0.67%, and the TecDAX index lost 1.36%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn), which rose 2.75% or 4.30 points to trade at 160.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) added 0.83% or 1.16 points to end at 140.12 and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG) was up 0.66% or 0.390 points to 59.665 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER), which fell 4.72% or 4.50 points to trade at 90.82 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) declined 2.05% or 0.490 points to end at 23.365 and Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) was down 1.84% or 1.06 points to 56.53.
The top performers on the MDAX were Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which rose 2.85% to 130.000, Airbus Group SE (DE:AIRG) which was up 2.63% to settle at 72.07 and Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) which gained 2.49% to close at 8.984.
The worst performers were Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (DE:AT1) which was down 6.88% to 4.629 in late trade, K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which lost 3.26% to settle at 6.164 and Qiagen NV (DE:QIA) which was down 3.21% to 42.765 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which rose 2.85% to 130.000, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was up 0.64% to settle at 11.080 and Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which gained 0.61% to close at 18.253.
The worst performers were Qiagen NV (DE:QIA) which was down 3.21% to 42.765 in late trade, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which lost 2.74% to settle at 348.000 and Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was down 2.58% to 10.195 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 414 to 258 and 80 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 5.36% to 24.59.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.15% or 22.55 to $1929.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.36% or 0.59 to hit $42.80 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.47% or 0.68 to trade at $45.48 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.16% to 1.1810, while EUR/GBP fell 0.02% to 0.8952.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 93.085.
