Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Construction, Media and Transportation & Logistics sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.70%, while the MDAX index declined 0.49%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.24%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 2.93% or 0.870 points to trade at 30.545 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) added 1.40% or 0.121 points to end at 8.745 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) was up 1.24% or 0.66 points to 53.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG), which fell 5.91% or 0.695 points to trade at 11.055 at the close. Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) declined 3.30% or 3.14 points to end at 92.02 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) was down 2.59% or 1.290 points to 48.590.
The top performers on the MDAX were Gerresheimer AG (DE:GXIG) which rose 2.24% to 77.750, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was up 2.16% to settle at 283.400 and Brenntag AG (DE:BNRGn) which gained 2.07% to close at 49.740.
The worst performers were Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) which was down 6.50% to 11.3600 in late trade, Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which lost 5.40% to settle at 46.060 and Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which was down 5.32% to 23.120 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which rose 2.16% to 283.400, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which was up 1.57% to settle at 67.750 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which gained 1.35% to close at 24.050.
The worst performers were New Work SE (DE:NWOn) which was down 3.69% to 261.00 in late trade, Jenoptik AG (DE:JENGn) which lost 2.59% to settle at 21.080 and Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which was down 1.87% to 93.485 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 420 to 260 and 57 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.12% to 32.57.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.11% or 1.85 to $1720.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.18% or 0.07 to hit $38.87 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.29% or 0.12 to trade at $41.06 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.16% to 1.1358, while EUR/GBP fell 0.04% to 0.8902.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 96.180.
