Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Media, Consumer & Cyclical and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.68%, while the MDAX index fell 1.18%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.88%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG), which rose 1.24% or 1.015 points to trade at 83.120 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn) added 0.86% or 0.510 points to end at 59.890 and Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) was up 0.60% or 0.67 points to 113.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG), which fell 2.92% or 1.810 points to trade at 60.190 at the close. Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) declined 2.83% or 8.30 points to end at 284.93 and RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) was down 2.68% or 0.895 points to 32.550.
The top performers on the MDAX were K&S AG (DE:SDFGn) which rose 3.55% to 12.910, Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) which was up 1.37% to settle at 65.245 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which gained 0.91% to close at 2.429.
The worst performers were Puma SE (DE:PUMG) which was down 4.65% to 100.00 in late trade, Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which lost 4.16% to settle at 49.130 and Scout24 AG (DE:G24n) which was down 3.89% to 65.660 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Jenoptik AG (DE:JENGn) which rose 0.93% to 30.340, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was up 0.91% to settle at 2.429 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which gained 0.85% to close at 45.350.
The worst performers were Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was down 3.41% to 53.280 in late trade, Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which lost 3.39% to settle at 121.050 and Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 2.59% to 15.070 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 446 to 241 and 84 ended unchanged.
Shares in Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) rose to all time highs; up 0.85% or 0.380 to 45.350.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 6.16% to 22.24 a new 1-month high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.69% or 12.45 to $1794.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.94% or 2.07 to hit $72.53 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 2.55% or 1.88 to trade at $75.48 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.08% to 1.1811, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.8540.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 92.528.
