Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Software, Technology and Consumer & Cyclical sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.59%, while the MDAX index lost 0.30%, and the TecDAX index declined 1.73%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 0.48% or 0.033 points to trade at 6.943 at the close. Meanwhile, Siemens AG Class N (DE:SIEGn) added 0.46% or 0.44 points to end at 95.93 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was up 0.44% or 0.68 points to 153.88 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG), which fell 2.48% or 1.110 points to trade at 43.625 at the close. Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) declined 2.38% or 3.550 points to end at 145.750 and Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) was down 2.28% or 0.330 points to 14.175.
The top performers on the MDAX were Osram Licht AG (DE:OSRn) which rose 2.24% to 38.80, Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) which was up 2.13% to settle at 5.358 and Airbus Group SE (DE:AIRG) which gained 1.87% to close at 121.00.
The worst performers were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was down 3.84% to 167.600 in late trade, Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which lost 3.58% to settle at 23.190 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was down 3.33% to 101.500 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which rose 1.29% to 54.900, Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which was up 1.09% to settle at 18.475 and SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which gained 0.69% to close at 26.140.
The worst performers were Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was down 21.03% to 118.30 in late trade, Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which lost 4.69% to settle at 43.500 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was down 3.84% to 167.600 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 451 to 239 and 70 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 5.98% to 17.55.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.80% or 27.75 to $1512.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.41% or 1.38 to hit $55.91 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.22% or 1.40 to trade at $61.70 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.66% to 1.0945, while EUR/GBP rose 0.41% to 0.8856.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.72% at 98.632.
