Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Insurance, Technology and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.36%, while the MDAX index lost 0.25%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.53%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER), which rose 2.36% or 2.10 points to trade at 91.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) added 1.04% or 0.750 points to end at 72.740 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) was up 0.98% or 0.390 points to 40.305 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which fell 1.67% or 0.530 points to trade at 31.115 at the close. Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) declined 1.41% or 3.45 points to end at 240.65 and Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) was down 1.29% or 1.22 points to 93.65.
The top performers on the MDAX were Grenke N AG (DE:GLJn) which rose 33.56% to 35.66, Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which was up 6.22% to settle at 38.270 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which gained 3.61% to close at 100.400.
The worst performers were Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (DE:AT1) which was down 4.33% to 4.688 in late trade, Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) which lost 2.79% to settle at 4.626 and Hannover Rueck SE (DE:HNRGn) which was down 2.68% to 134.50 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which rose 3.61% to 100.400, Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was up 1.43% to settle at 115.125 and New Work SE (DE:NWOn) which gained 1.24% to close at 244.00.
The worst performers were Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was down 2.05% to 9.800 in late trade, LPKF Laser & Electronics (DE:LPKG) which lost 1.96% to settle at 22.550 and Software AG (DE:SOWGn) which was down 1.59% to 42.590 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 398 to 256 and 94 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.78% to 24.54.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.00% or 19.70 to $1950.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.24% or 0.90 to hit $41.06 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 2.82% or 1.19 to trade at $43.41 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.09% to 1.1825, while EUR/GBP rose 0.27% to 0.9134.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 93.097.
