Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer & Cyclical, Retail and Industrials sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.35% to hit a new 52-week low, while the MDAX index declined 1.15%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.58%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Linde PLC (DE:LINI), which rose 3.94% or 5.850 points to trade at 154.150 at the close. Meanwhile, Covestro AG (DE:1COV) added 1.85% or 0.540 points to end at 29.740 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) was up 1.53% or 0.090 points to 5.972 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN), which fell 9.64% or 21.31 points to trade at 199.69 at the close. MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) declined 3.01% or 5.65 points to end at 182.05 and Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) was down 2.43% or 2.260 points to 90.860.

The top performers on the MDAX were K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which rose 14.07% to 6.650, Knorr-Bremse AG (DE:KBX) which was up 5.82% to settle at 81.82 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) which gained 5.36% to close at 3.953.

The worst performers were Gerresheimer AG (DE:GXIG) which was down 7.32% to 59.550 in late trade, Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which lost 5.46% to settle at 32.930 and Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which was down 4.91% to 35.05 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which rose 3.41% to 28.500, Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which was up 2.11% to settle at 63.000 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which gained 1.32% to close at 28.300.

The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 5.66% to 8.340 in late trade, Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which lost 3.66% to settle at 17.120 and New Work SE (DE:NWOn) which was down 3.40% to 199.00 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 428 to 270 and 50 ended unchanged.

Shares in Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) fell to 52-week lows; down 9.64% or 21.31 to 199.69. Shares in MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) fell to 52-week lows; losing 3.01% or 5.65 to 182.05. Shares in Gerresheimer AG (DE:GXIG) fell to 52-week lows; losing 7.32% or 4.700 to 59.550. Shares in Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) fell to 5-year lows; down 5.46% or 1.900 to 32.930. Shares in Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.66% or 0.500 to 8.340. Shares in Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) fell to 5-year lows; losing 3.66% or 0.650 to 17.120. Shares in New Work SE (DE:NWOn) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.40% or 7.00 to 199.00.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 53.40.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.03% or 17.10 to $1643.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 3.29% or 1.13 to hit $33.23 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 3.36% or 1.25 to trade at $35.97 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.04% to 1.1283, while EUR/GBP rose 0.52% to 0.8782.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 96.477.
