Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Food & Beverage, Technology and Basic Resources sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.48%, while the MDAX index fell 0.16%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.57%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which rose 3.65% or 0.865 points to trade at 24.535 at the close. Meanwhile, E.ON SE NA (XETRA:EONGn) added 1.23% or 0.170 points to end at 13.985 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (XETRA:LHAG) was up 1.16% or 0.155 points to 13.515 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (XETRA:BMWG), which fell 4.21% or 5.100 points to trade at 115.900 at the close. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p) declined 3.15% or 7.950 points to end at 244.500 and Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG) was down 2.73% or 6.200 points to 220.550.
The top performers on the MDAX were Bilfinger SE O.N. (XETRA:GBFG) which rose 1.66% to 52.700, Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which was up 1.43% to settle at 103.050 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (XETRA:BOSSn) which gained 1.26% to close at 116.150.
The worst performers were Leoni AG NA O.N. (XETRA:LEOGn) which was down 3.79% to 57.700 in late trade, Talanx AG NA O.N. (XETRA:TLXGn) which lost 2.34% to settle at 30.660 and Kloeckner & Co SE NA (XETRA:KCOGn) which was down 2.26% to 8.810 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were BB Biotech AG (XETRA:BIONn) which rose 3.90% to 317.150, Stratec Biomedical (XETRA:SBSG) which was up 3.35% to settle at 45.500 and Jenoptik AG O.N. (XETRA:JENG) which gained 2.73% to close at 13.165.
The worst performers were Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which was down 3.28% to 122.400 in late trade, LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which lost 3.21% to settle at 12.195 and SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which was down 3.02% to 11.405 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 426 to 300 and 33 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.36% to 19.70.
Gold for April delivery was up 0.34% or 3.90 to $1152.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in May fell 1.22% or 0.55 to hit $44.64 a barrel, while the May Brent Oil contract rose 1.39% or 0.74 to trade at $54.26 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.66% to 1.0663, while EUR/GBP rose 0.84% to 0.7246.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.53% at 99.51.
