Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Food & Beverage, Technology and Software sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.04%, while the MDAX index declined 0.09%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.83%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN), which rose 2.10% or 0.470 points to trade at 22.870 at the close. Meanwhile, Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (XETRA:TKAG) added 1.64% or 0.335 points to end at 20.805 and Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (XETRA:HNKG_p) was up 1.31% or 1.150 points to 89.050 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn), which fell 2.54% or 0.221 points to trade at 8.480 at the close. SAP AG O.N. (XETRA:SAPG) declined 2.25% or 1.270 points to end at 55.070 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn) was down 1.28% or 0.310 points to 23.915.
The top performers on the MDAX were Salzgitter AG O.N. (XETRA:SZGG) which rose 2.05% to 22.355, Aurubis AG (XETRA:NAFG) which was up 1.99% to settle at 46.745 and Airbus Group (XETRA:AIRG) which gained 1.94% to close at 42.620.
The worst performers were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which was down 5.11% to 11.235 in late trade, Aareal Bank AG (XETRA:ARLG) which lost 2.47% to settle at 32.050 and Kuka AG (XETRA:KU2G) which was down 2.00% to 57.960 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Jenoptik AG O.N. (XETRA:JENG) which rose 2.49% to 10.500, Evotec AG O.N. (XETRA:EVTG) which was up 1.56% to settle at 3.712 and Nordex SE O.N. (XETRA:NDXG) which gained 1.56% to close at 15.325.
The worst performers were QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which was down 5.13% to 1.664 in late trade, Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which lost 5.03% to settle at 8.909 and SMA Solar Technology AG (XETRA:S92G) which was down 4.83% to 14.175 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 425 to 292 and 24 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 24.09 a new 52 weeks high.
Gold for February delivery was up 1.15% or 13.90 to $1217.90 a troy ounce.
Elsewhere in commodities trading, crude oil for delivery in February fell 4.14% or 2.07 to hit $47.97 a barrel, while the February brent oil contract fell 3.66% or 1.95 to trade at $51.16 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.05% to 1.1939, while EUR/GBP rose 0.49% to 0.7863.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 91.58.
