Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Construction and Media sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.31%, while the MDAX index added 1.17%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.89%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (XETRA:BMWG), which rose 1.78% or 1.500 points to trade at 85.540 at the close. Meanwhile, Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG) added 1.71% or 0.750 points to end at 44.575 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:VOWG_p) was up 1.68% or 2.800 points to 169.750 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were RWE AG ST O.N. (XETRA:RWEG), which fell 1.88% or 0.250 points to trade at 13.035 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (XETRA:IFXGn) declined 1.25% or 0.124 points to end at 9.823 and K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGn) was down 1.14% or 0.410 points to 35.700.
The top performers on the MDAX were Hochtief AG (XETRA:HOTG) which rose 4.74% to 78.700, Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (XETRA:GWIG) which was up 4.16% to settle at 19.765 and Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (XETRA:ZILGn) which gained 3.69% to close at 21.765.
The worst performers were Fraport AG (XETRA:FRAG) which was down 1.80% to 52.410 in late trade, Tag Immobilien AG (XETRA:TEGG) which lost 0.53% to settle at 9.962 and Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (XETRA:WING) which was down 0.47% to 37.125 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE NA O.N. (XETRA:AIXGn) which rose 5.69% to 6.533, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (XETRA:SATG_p) which was up 3.21% to settle at 193.000 and Cancom SE O.N. (XETRA:COKG) which gained 3.00% to close at 31.750.
The worst performers were LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which was down 1.15% to 8.340 in late trade, QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which lost 0.82% to settle at 1.694 and Morphosys AG O.N. (XETRA:MORG) which was down 0.80% to 61.930 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 498 to 179 and 43 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.58% to 26.03.
Gold for December delivery was down 1.48% or 16.60 to $1104.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.46% or 0.67 to hit $45.27 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.75% or 0.86 to trade at $48.66 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.41% to 1.1157, while EUR/GBP fell 0.20% to 0.7264.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.45% at 96.27.
