Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Technology and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 2.68%, while the MDAX index gained 2.12%, and the TecDAX index climbed 2.48%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Continental AG O.N. (XETRA:CONG), which rose 4.01% or 7.400 points to trade at 191.850 at the close. Meanwhile, Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (XETRA:FMEG) added 3.95% or 2.630 points to end at 69.290 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (XETRA:DTEGn) was up 3.67% or 0.555 points to 15.665 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG), which rose 1.01% or 0.445 points to trade at 44.540 at the close. K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGn) added 1.08% or 0.350 points to end at 32.795 and BASF SE NA O.N. (XETRA:BASFN) was up 1.29% or 0.910 points to 71.340.
The top performers on the MDAX were Rheinmetall AG (XETRA:RHMG) which rose 5.21% to 56.380, Duerr AG O.N. (XETRA:DUEG) which was up 4.33% to settle at 69.640 and Kuka AG (XETRA:KU2G) which gained 3.70% to close at 73.150.
The worst performers were Evonik Industries AG (XETRA:EVKn) which was down 2.14% to 32.165 in late trade, Gagfah SA Nom. (XETRA:GFJG) which lost 1.06% to settle at 15.425 and Deutsche Annington Immobilien SE (XETRA:ANNGn) which was unchanged 0.00% to 28.98 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (XETRA:ADAG) which rose 6.69% to 9.686, LPKF Laser & Electronics (XETRA:LPKG) which was up 5.87% to settle at 8.700 and Dialog Semiconductor (XETRA:DLGS) which gained 4.74% to close at 43.430.
The worst performers were Xing AG (XETRA:OBCGn) which was up 0.14% to 177.750 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (XETRA:AFXG) which gained 0.35% to settle at 24.100 and Evotec AG O.N. (XETRA:EVTG) which was up 0.45% to 3.783 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 571 to 102 and 41 ended unchanged.
Shares in Rheinmetall AG (XETRA:RHMG) rose to 52-week highs; rising 5.21% or 2.790 to 56.380.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 10.64% to 25.88.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.94% or 10.60 to $1123.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.25% or 1.04 to hit $47.29 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.48% or 0.74 to trade at $51.24 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.07% to 1.1107, while EUR/GBP fell 0.76% to 0.7282.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.65% at 96.50.
