Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Utilities and Construction sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 2.28%, while the MDAX index added 2.00%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.81%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 4.03% or 0.585 points to trade at 15.095 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) added 3.65% or 0.540 points to end at 15.325 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) was up 3.52% or 0.221 points to 6.494 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn), which rose 0.53% or 0.205 points to trade at 38.920 at the close. Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) added 0.67% or 0.610 points to end at 92.220 and Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) was up 0.93% or 0.680 points to 73.790.
The top performers on the MDAX were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which rose 4.56% to 5.25, Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which was up 3.58% to settle at 28.800 and Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which gained 3.24% to close at 77.730.
The worst performers were Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was down 2.87% to 38.465 in late trade, Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which lost 0.59% to settle at 23.700 and Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which was up 0.01% to 73.010 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which rose 4.51% to 8.646, Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was up 3.70% to settle at 37.230 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which gained 3.49% to close at 3.829.
The worst performers were STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which was down 0.81% to 52.400 in late trade, Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which lost 0.25% to settle at 5.535 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was up 0.33% to 42.19 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 695 to 179 and 18 ended unchanged.
Shares in Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) fell to 52-week lows; falling 2.87% or 1.135 to 38.465.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 13.72% to 15.82 a new 52-week low.
Gold for December delivery was up 1.17% or 15.55 to $1346.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.36% or 1.07 to hit $46.41 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.79% or 0.84 to trade at $47.67 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.35% to 1.1229, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8580.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.31% at 95.16.
