Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Food & Beverages sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 2.13%, while the MDAX index added 0.75%, and the TecDAX index added 1.64%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG), which rose 18.82% or 2.718 points to trade at 17.158 at the close. Meanwhile, Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) added 6.49% or 4.46 points to end at 73.14 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was up 4.81% or 6.26 points to 136.38 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG), which fell 4.55% or 0.448 points to trade at 9.400 at the close. MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) declined 1.03% or 1.65 points to end at 157.95 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) was down 0.44% or 0.24 points to 54.26.
The top performers on the MDAX were Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) which rose 5.96% to 10.5150, Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) which was up 4.36% to settle at 4.024 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which gained 4.25% to close at 92.780.
The worst performers were Gerresheimer AG (DE:GXIG) which was down 2.44% to 82.050 in late trade, Knorr-Bremse AG (DE:KBX) which lost 1.84% to settle at 90.79 and Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (DE:AT1) which was down 1.12% to 5.320 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which rose 18.82% to 17.158, Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was up 8.07% to settle at 10.742 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which gained 4.25% to close at 92.780.
The worst performers were United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which was down 0.19% to 37.280 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which lost 0.08% to settle at 24.650 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which was unchanged 0.00% to 68.250 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 496 to 173 and 68 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 6.80% to 33.98.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.83% or 14.65 to $1781.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.20% or 0.08 to hit $40.81 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.12% or 0.05 to trade at $43.13 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.48% to 1.1312, while EUR/GBP rose 0.07% to 0.9038.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.42% at 96.582.
