Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Chemicals and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 1.84% to hit a new 3-months high, while the MDAX index gained 1.46%, and the TecDAX index added 1.56%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn), which rose 7.02% or 10.60 points to trade at 161.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Linde PLC (DE:LINI) added 4.15% or 8.400 points to end at 210.700 and Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) was up 3.90% or 4.27 points to 113.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG), which fell 7.25% or 0.173 points to trade at 2.212 at the close. Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) added 0.13% or 0.08 points to end at 64.06 and Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) was up 0.27% or 0.23 points to 86.68.
The top performers on the MDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which rose 8.56% to 121.125, Grenke N AG (DE:GLJn) which was up 6.24% to settle at 74.90 and Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which gained 5.39% to close at 100.700.
The worst performers were TeamViewer AG (DE:TMV) which was down 7.40% to 46.65 in late trade, Alstria Office Reit-Ag (DE:AOXG) which lost 2.09% to settle at 12.660 and Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which was down 2.00% to 64.68 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which rose 8.56% to 121.125, Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which was up 5.39% to settle at 100.700 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COP1n) which gained 4.45% to close at 71.650.
The worst performers were TeamViewer AG (DE:TMV) which was down 7.40% to 46.65 in late trade, Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which lost 7.25% to settle at 2.212 and Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was down 0.87% to 23.930 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 480 to 190 and 70 ended unchanged.
Shares in Linde PLC (DE:LINI) rose to all time highs; up 4.15% or 8.400 to 210.700.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 5.54% to 29.35 a new 3-months low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.04% or 0.75 to $1814.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.69% or 0.68 to hit $40.97 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.61% or 0.69 to trade at $43.59 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.09% to 1.1406, while EUR/GBP fell 0.20% to 0.9059.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 96.023.
