Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Retail, Transportation & Logistics and Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 1.64% to hit a new 52-week high, while the MDAX index added 1.66%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.36%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (ETR:VOWG_p), which rose 10.56% or 13.58 points to trade at 142.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Porsche Automobil Holding SE (ETR:PSHG_p) added 5.57% or 3.02 points to end at 57.28 and Continental AG O.N. (ETR:CONG) was up 5.44% or 3.74 points to 72.48 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Beiersdorf AG O.N. (ETR:BEIG), which fell 1.72% or 1.95 points to trade at 111.65 at the close. Hannover Rueck SE (ETR:HNRGn) declined 1.38% or 2.55 points to end at 181.70 and RWE AG ST O.N. (ETR:RWEG) was down 0.53% or 0.21 points to 39.05.
The top performers on the MDAX were HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which rose 9.67% to 21.66, Deutsche Lufthansa AG (ETR:LHAG) which was up 5.07% to settle at 10.36 and Aroundtown Property Holdings PLC (ETR:AT1) which gained 5.02% to close at 2.53.
The worst performers were Talanx AG NA O.N. (ETR:TLXGn) which was down 1.93% to 44.66 in late trade, Kion Group AG (ETR:KGX) which lost 1.63% to settle at 36.14 and Stabilus (ETR:STM1) which was down 0.32% to 63.00 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Varta AG (ETR:VAR1) which rose 5.42% to 29.78, Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was up 4.48% to settle at 28.92 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (ETR:COP1n) which gained 3.46% to close at 46.04.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G) which was down 1.94% to 70.90 in late trade, Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which lost 1.74% to settle at 16.14 and Nagarro SE (ETR:NA9n) which was down 0.38% to 105.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 490 to 181 and 85 ended unchanged.
Shares in Deutsche Lufthansa AG (ETR:LHAG) rose to 3-years highs; up 5.07% or 0.50 to 10.36.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 6.59% to 17.86.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.75% or 13.75 to $1,854.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.82% or 1.42 to hit $79.58 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 1.24% or 1.05 to trade at $85.80 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.27% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.32% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.36% at 104.62.
