Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Technology and Chemicals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 1.64%, while the MDAX index gained 1.16%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.64%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG), which rose 6.60% or 8.05 points to trade at 130.07 at the close. Meanwhile, Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) added 4.35% or 2.005 points to end at 48.045 and BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN) was up 3.93% or 2.410 points to 63.670 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which fell 1.24% or 0.300 points to trade at 23.960 at the close. Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) declined 0.74% or 0.950 points to end at 127.300 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) was down 0.63% or 0.28 points to 43.98.
The top performers on the MDAX were Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which rose 6.80% to 45.54, Brenntag AG (DE:BNRGn) which was up 5.43% to settle at 46.230 and Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which gained 4.96% to close at 12.700.
The worst performers were Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which was down 9.78% to 21.400 in late trade, Software AG (DE:SOWGn) which lost 2.36% to settle at 26.060 and Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which was down 2.28% to 50.68 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were SLM Solutions Group AG (DE:AM3D) which rose 3.93% to 11.12, Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) which was up 3.69% to settle at 17.700 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which gained 3.67% to close at 70.660.
The worst performers were Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was down 5.12% to 47.440 in late trade, Software AG (DE:SOWGn) which lost 2.36% to settle at 26.060 and Xing AG (DE:OBCGn) which was down 2.15% to 342.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 475 to 204 and 77 ended unchanged.
Shares in Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) fell to 3-years lows; losing 9.78% or 2.320 to 21.400.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 5.44% to 13.91.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.47% or 6.75 to $1420.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.00% or 0.56 to hit $56.78 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.95% or 0.60 to trade at $63.86 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.52% to 1.1150, while EUR/GBP fell 0.23% to 0.8960.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.48% at 97.407.
