Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Utilities and Consumer & Cyclical sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 1.60%, while the MDAX index climbed 1.11%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.34%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 4.26% or 0.570 points to trade at 13.955 at the close. Meanwhile, E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) added 3.35% or 0.221 points to end at 6.826 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) was up 3.01% or 0.299 points to 10.235 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG), which rose 0.11% or 0.200 points to trade at 175.200 at the close. Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) added 0.25% or 0.08 points to end at 31.68 and Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) was up 0.39% or 0.320 points to 81.620.
The top performers on the MDAX were Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which rose 5.21% to 39.180, Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was up 5.13% to settle at 33.790 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which gained 4.10% to close at 53.350.
The worst performers were STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which was down 1.65% to 47.650 in late trade, Deutsche Euroshop AG (DE:DEQGn) which lost 0.95% to settle at 39.045 and Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which was down 0.81% to 13.51 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which rose 3.04% to 54.960, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was up 2.67% to settle at 3.580 and Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which gained 2.46% to close at 8.801.
The worst performers were Software AG O.N. (DE:SOWG) which was down 8.71% to 33.800 in late trade, S&T AG (F:SANT1) which lost 4.59% to settle at 9.300 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 0.89% to 23.490 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 693 to 190 and 26 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 6.56% to 18.83.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.01% or 0.15 to $1257.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.59% or 0.30 to hit $50.14 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.52% or 0.27 to trade at $51.76 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.57% to 1.0995, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.9017.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.40% at 97.92.
