Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer & Cyclical, Financial Services and Media sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 1.60%, while the MDAX index climbed 2.56%, and the TecDAX index climbed 3.19%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN), which rose 5.27% or 9.20 points to trade at 183.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) added 4.73% or 1.350 points to end at 29.900 and Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) was up 4.13% or 4.200 points to 105.850 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which fell 0.44% or 0.058 points to trade at 13.110 at the close. Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) declined 0.25% or 0.070 points to end at 27.920 and Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) was up 0.06% or 0.10 points to 180.45.

The top performers on the MDAX were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which rose 7.87% to 0.44, Jungheinrich AG O.N.VZO (DE:JUNG_p) which was up 4.88% to settle at 39.540 and Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which gained 4.62% to close at 73.44.

The worst performers were Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which was down 1.07% to 148.55 in late trade, Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which lost 0.62% to settle at 35.020 and CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which was down 0.25% to 39.800 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which rose 15.51% to 17.350, Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was up 8.78% to settle at 12.510 and Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which gained 7.00% to close at 6.650.

The worst performers were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was up 0.32% to 123.500 in late trade, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which gained 0.64% to settle at 23.670 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was up 0.74% to 3.973 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 668 to 99 and 35 ended unchanged.

Shares in Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) fell to 52-week lows; down 0.44% or 0.058 to 13.110. Shares in Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) rose to 5-year highs; up 4.13% or 4.200 to 105.850.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 18.99% to 20.70.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.66% or 8.80 to $1320.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 2.40% or 1.52 to hit $61.87 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 1.78% or 1.19 to trade at $65.67 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.80% to 1.2277, while EUR/GBP fell 0.20% to 0.8854.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.67% at 90.12.
