Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Insurance, Industrials and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 1.23% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index gained 0.33%, and the TecDAX index added 0.81%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 4.75% or 0.500 points to trade at 11.020 at the close. Meanwhile, Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) added 4.13% or 2.940 points to end at 74.175 and Siemens AG Class N (DE:SIEGn) was up 3.59% or 4.88 points to 140.82 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which fell 2.52% or 5.80 points to trade at 224.38 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) declined 0.82% or 0.280 points to end at 33.987 and E.ON SE (DE:EONGn) was down 0.37% or 0.032 points to 8.696.

The top performers on the MDAX were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which rose 8.17% to 439.600, Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) which was up 4.34% to settle at 5.486 and Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which gained 3.59% to close at 132.700.

The worst performers were CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which was down 3.36% to 54.700 in late trade, HelloFresh SE (DE:HFGG) which lost 2.33% to settle at 62.90 and Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which was down 2.08% to 86.56 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (DE:EUZG) which rose 9.42% to 66.200, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was up 8.17% to settle at 439.600 and Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which gained 3.59% to close at 132.700.

The worst performers were Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was down 1.48% to 53.250 in late trade, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which lost 1.42% to settle at 2.354 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 1.19% to 76.200 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 397 to 281 and 81 ended unchanged.

Shares in Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) rose to 3-years highs; rising 4.13% or 2.940 to 74.175. Shares in Siemens AG Class N (DE:SIEGn) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.59% or 4.88 to 140.82. Shares in Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (DE:EUZG) rose to all time highs; rising 9.42% or 5.700 to 66.200.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.68% to 19.03.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.40% or 6.95 to $1734.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 8.31% or 5.37 to hit $59.23 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 8.12% or 5.52 to trade at $62.48 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.54% to 1.1913, while EUR/GBP fell 0.29% to 0.8551.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.48% at 91.870.
