Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Utilities, Transportation & Logistics and Media sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 1.14% to hit a new 3-months high, while the MDAX index climbed 0.62%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.45%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which rose 4.39% or 4.450 points to trade at 105.850 at the close. Meanwhile, Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) added 3.75% or 0.495 points to end at 13.690 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) was up 2.62% or 0.233 points to 9.121 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG), which fell 0.39% or 0.310 points to trade at 79.180 at the close. Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) added 0.03% or 0.020 points to end at 67.850 and Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) was up 0.05% or 0.040 points to 88.820.
The top performers on the MDAX were Gerry Weber Internat.O.N. (DE:GWIG) which rose 8.19% to 15.200, Elringklinger AG NA O.N. (DE:ZILGn) which was up 2.76% to settle at 21.990 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) which gained 2.54% to close at 29.48.
The worst performers were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (DE:SZUG) which was down 4.81% to 17.530 in late trade, Osram Licht (DE:OSRn) which lost 0.99% to settle at 38.656 and Gagfah SA Nom. (DE:GFJG) which was down 0.72% to 15.865 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which rose 4.70% to 30.965, Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was up 3.56% to settle at 10.770 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which gained 3.21% to close at 57.480.
The worst performers were SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was down 4.92% to 45.640 in late trade, Kontron AG O.N. (DE:KBCG) which lost 2.06% to settle at 3.046 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which was down 1.78% to 40.330 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 473 to 224 and 29 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.10% to 20.56.
Gold for December delivery was up 1.29% or 13.80 to $1082.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.93% or 0.39 to hit $41.56 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.08% or 0.04 to trade at $44.10 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.80% to 1.0745, while EUR/GBP rose 0.23% to 0.7015.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.72% at 98.94.
