Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Utilities, Construction and Transportation & Logistics sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.96%, while the MDAX index gained 1.35%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.92%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 5.15% or 0.570 points to trade at 11.645 at the close. Meanwhile, Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) added 3.58% or 0.645 points to end at 18.660 and Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) was up 3.35% or 1.350 points to 41.650 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were SAP AG O.N. (DE:SAPG), which fell 1.00% or 0.680 points to trade at 67.510 at the close. K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) declined 0.55% or 0.105 points to end at 18.915 and Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN) was down 0.10% or 0.100 points to 103.000.
The top performers on the MDAX were Axel Springer SE (DE:SPRGn) which rose 7.98% to 50.350, Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which was up 5.16% to settle at 76.800 and Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which gained 4.74% to close at 29.375.
The worst performers were Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which was down 1.96% to 40.575 in late trade, Wincor Nixdorf O.N. (DE:WING) which lost 1.65% to settle at 52.340 and Tui AG NA (DE:TUIGn) which was down 0.88% to 12.880 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were QSC AG NA O.N. (DE:QSCG) which rose 4.84% to 1.300, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was up 3.78% to settle at 23.220 and Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which gained 3.48% to close at 10.270.
The worst performers were STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which was down 1.52% to 42.785 in late trade, Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which lost 1.43% to settle at 44.140 and PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (DE:PSAGn) which was down 0.78% to 13.350 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 600 to 257 and 34 ended unchanged.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 6.20% to 22.07.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.33% or 4.10 to $1241.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 6.20% or 2.31 to hit $39.57 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 5.96% or 2.35 to trade at $41.78 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.23% to 1.1404, while EUR/GBP fell 0.12% to 0.8085.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.28% at 94.24.
