Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Food & Beverages and Software sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.90%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.83%, and the TecDAX index added 2.43%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING), which rose 3.28% or 5.70 points to trade at 179.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) added 2.73% or 0.620 points to end at 23.320 and Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn) was up 2.48% or 0.910 points to 37.650 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG), which fell 4.24% or 3.44 points to trade at 77.66 at the close. Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) declined 1.66% or 0.460 points to end at 27.290 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) was down 0.58% or 0.076 points to 13.100.
The top performers on the MDAX were Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which rose 7.34% to 146.30, MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) which was up 3.13% to settle at 138.50 and LEG Immobilien AG (DE:LEGn) which gained 2.37% to close at 88.980.
The worst performers were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 6.88% to 67.700 in late trade, Axel Springer SE (DE:SPRGn) which lost 6.28% to settle at 67.900 and Metro AG (DE:MEOG) which was down 5.67% to 10.230 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which rose 13.60% to 16.075, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was up 8.74% to settle at 139.900 and Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which gained 4.21% to close at 100.000.
The worst performers were SLM Solutions Group AG (DE:AM3D) which was down 2.62% to 33.45 in late trade, RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which lost 1.60% to settle at 33.160 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 0.57% to 78.700 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 499 to 212 and 78 ended unchanged.
Shares in Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) fell to 52-week lows; losing 4.24% or 3.44 to 77.66.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 8.05% to 18.06.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.46% or 6.10 to $1321.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.26% or 0.77 to hit $60.38 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.95% or 0.61 to trade at $63.73 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.75% to 1.2318, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.8913.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.58% at 90.08.
