Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Insurance, Technology and Consumer & Cyclical sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.88%, while the MDAX index added 0.55%, and the TecDAX index added 0.69%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn), which rose 2.78% or 5.05 points to trade at 186.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) added 2.74% or 4.30 points to end at 161.00 and Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) was up 2.71% or 5.10 points to 193.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which fell 0.94% or 0.087 points to trade at 9.141 at the close. Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) declined 0.81% or 0.77 points to end at 94.84 and RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) was down 0.53% or 0.105 points to 19.815.
The top performers on the MDAX were Rational AG (BS:RAAd) which rose 4.06% to 556.00, Leoni AG (DE:LEOGn) which was up 3.91% to settle at 55.740 and Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which gained 2.93% to close at 110.800.
The worst performers were Lanxess AG (DE:LXSG) which was down 4.40% to 64.280 in late trade, Hochtief AG (DE:HOTG) which lost 2.27% to settle at 150.40 and Metro AG (DE:MEOG) which was down 1.98% to 9.580 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which rose 8.89% to 19.100, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which was up 3.65% to settle at 16.065 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which gained 3.15% to close at 152.350.
The worst performers were Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was down 1.98% to 61.750 in late trade, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which lost 1.58% to settle at 44.740 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was down 1.57% to 84.600 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 425 to 283 and 84 ended unchanged.
Shares in Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) rose to 5-year highs; rising 8.89% or 1.560 to 19.100. Shares in Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) rose to all time highs; up 3.15% or 4.650 to 152.350.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 6.65% to 17.18.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.65% or 8.60 to $1317.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.51% or 0.31 to hit $61.27 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.42% or 0.27 to trade at $65.16 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.38% to 1.2320, while EUR/GBP fell 0.26% to 0.8835.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.32% at 90.04.
