Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Retail and Chemicals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.75% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index added 0.93%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.93%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (ETR:VOWG_p), which rose 5.36% or 5.82 points to trade at 114.38 at the close. Meanwhile, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) added 3.18% or 9.00 points to end at 291.80 and Porsche Automobil Holding SE (ETR:PSHG_p) was up 3.10% or 1.42 points to 47.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Merck KGaA (ETR:MRCG), which fell 13.06% or 21.15 points to trade at 140.80 at the close. Hannover Rueck SE (ETR:HNRGn) declined 1.27% or 2.80 points to end at 218.30 and Munich Reinsurance (ETR:MUVGn) was down 0.38% or 1.50 points to 392.00.
The top performers on the MDAX were Redcare Pharmacy NV (ETR:RDC) which rose 7.51% to 134.60, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was up 6.32% to settle at 86.18 and Lanxess AG (ETR:LXSG) which gained 4.02% to close at 25.59.
The worst performers were CTS Eventim AG (ETR:EVDG) which was down 2.37% to 61.85 in late trade, Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which lost 2.07% to settle at 23.62 and Puma SE (ETR:PUMG) which was down 1.89% to 59.18 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which rose 6.32% to 86.18, Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was up 3.49% to settle at 35.31 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which gained 3.18% to close at 291.80.
The worst performers were Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which was down 6.50% to 25.76 in late trade, Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) which lost 2.65% to settle at 29.77 and Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which was down 2.07% to 23.62 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 370 to 273 and 32 ended unchanged.
Shares in Redcare Pharmacy NV (ETR:RDC) rose to 52-week highs; up 7.51% or 9.40 to 134.60. Shares in Verbio Vereinigte Bioenergie AG (ETR:VBKG) fell to 52-week lows; falling 2.65% or 0.81 to 29.77.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.29% to 13.66.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.48% or 9.70 to $2,046.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 3.97% or 2.87 to hit $69.45 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 3.55% or 2.74 to trade at $74.46 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.08% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.00% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 103.96.
